Get Your Kids Outside With a Ghillie Suit
Are you having trouble deciding on what to get your child for Christmas this year? It seems like any and all toys made these days are just things that encourage a kid to play indoors and remain sedentary. Come on now, as a parent you should encourage your kids to get outside and have an active childhood. The habits and lifestyles they learn now will be the same as they enter adulthood. If you encourage your children to be healthy and active now, thhey will continue that way for the rest of their lives. One way to get them to play outside and be active is to get them toys that encourage this behavior. I was having a big problem with my two young boys not ever wanting to play outside until I found them both a kids ghillie suit. Now I’m lucky to have them in by supper.
A ghillie suit is such a great kid’s item because it can be used for hundreds of games and scenarios. It’s uses are only limited to the imagination of the child who is playing. And if your children are anything like mine you know that’s just about unlimited. One of my kids’ favorite games is hide and seek. Of course, now that they both have a ghillie suit, the game is a bit more complicated for them. The hiding is a lot more easy, and if you’re the lucky dad who gets picked to do the seeking, well, let’s just say it’s not the easiest task.
Ghillie suits for kids are also a great way for yor child to get more interested in, and closer to, nature as well. In history, the ghillie suit was originally used by Scottish game wardens who would hunt poachers on rich landlord’s properties. They would hide in the brush until poachers or unsuspecting animals would pass by and jump out and grab them. With camouflage that works this well, it is possible for your child to get closer to birds or animals who might be wary of observation.
Kids’ Gillie Suits
Do you have kids that like to play outside? As a parent, it is very important for me to give my children all the opportunities to have a happy and healthy lifestyle. And one important aspect of keeping my kids healthy is keeping them active. As a young boy, I spent hours and hours in the summer running around outside playing games with all the neighborhood kids and when they weren’t around, by myself. It was always lots of fun, and between that and a couple of organized sports in school, I was always an athletic and confident kid. With the gigantic wave of childhood obesity still going through our country in all classes, races, and cultures, I think it is now more important than ever to keep your children active for their present health and their lifestyles for the future. And one of the best ways to do that is to just turn off those video games for them and have them go outside to play.
When I was a kid, one of my favorite games to play was Army. Being a child in the 80’s, I saw all the Vietnam war shows on television so as a young child spent many hours crouched behind logs and jumping into mud puddles when it was raining really hard outside. Now, I have two sons who only wanted to sit in the house and play video games, until I found the kids ghillie suit and bought both of them one. Now we’re lucky if we can get them to come in for lunch.
A ghillie suit for kids is the perfect gift that will make your child want to run, jump, and hide outside all day. It is excellent for imaginary play, hide and seek, or just about anything else your child can think of. Their imaginations will go wild as they come up with hundreds of games and scenarios they can do with the fun of a childs ghillie suit. And it’s great for educational purposes too. Your child can use it to nature watch or learn more about camouflage patterns and how they are used in nature. There is virtually no limit to how they can be used. If you’re having problems trying to get your kid to have more interest in outside activities, why not give them something fun to do outdoors? Get them a kids ghillie suit!
Hunting With Ghillie Suits
From the West coast to the East coast, the fall season is upon us and hunters are beginning to trickle into the woods for area goose, pheasant, grouse, elk, deer and many other tasty treats. As the season descends, more and more types of camouflage are being introduced into the world of hunting. Some of these are good and some not so good. Concealment is defined as: “an attempt to hide or to prevent for recognition or disclosureâ€.
Hunters will spend hundreds of dollars on trying to be concealed in the woods this year alone. Scent locking clothing, standard camouflage, mossy, leafy, desert, all of it is good as long as it is used in the proper environment. Wearing desert camouflage in the heart of Milwaukee, Wisconsin will only get you more attention than you really wanted, especially if your favorite weaponry accompanies what you are wearing. Standard camouflage is always a good choice, but the better choice is an oldie but goodie that has been proven in times past to be the most effective camouflage around. In fact, it originates from Scotland before WWI and was used for the purpose of “game keeping†by men who would hunt landowners property for them. I’m talking of course about the ghillie suit.
The ghillie suit went on to play an important part in all of the preceding wars including our current . The ghillie suits ability to conceal is by far the best in the field, but it is no longer just used in wars and protecting game. In fact, recreational use for the ghillie suit is on the rise. Ghillie suits are being customized for paintball games and for hunting usage. Because of its ability to conceal in the way that it does, the ghillie suit will likely be around for a long time to come.
